Welcome to Almeley Women’s institute. part of the national Federation of Women’s Institutes, which has 205,000 members and 6,800 branches nation-wide.

Members play a unique role in generating friendship, providing education opportunities, including residential courses at its own Denman College. They take part in a wide range of activities, campaigning on issues that matter to them, to their communities and the nation. Such a large group of women has influence when urging HM Government to address issues of important for the health and welfare of all its citizens.

New members are always welcome.  We meet on the third Thursday of the month in Almeley Village Hall at 7.30pm
The aim is to meet friends, and enjoy interesting speakers and outings.

Flicks in the Sticks

Long Description:

Flicks in the Sticks in brought to Almeley by Arts Alive and is the first and biggest film touring scheme in Europe with nearly 600 films a year, and partnering with 80 or more communities.

The pioneering Flicks in the Sticks project uses the latest in digital technology to take films to local venues throughout Shropshire and Herefordshire. By working with local promoters, using existing venues and using low cost technology, Flicks in the Sticks is able to bring BIG screen films, classics and blockbusters, to those who live in rural area and do not normally get the opportunity to see such films.

All films in Almeley Village Hall.  Cabaret seating, bar (or bring your own refreshments), raffle.

Admission Price: Adults £4.00, Children £2.50                  Films start at 7.30 pm.

Come and enjoy a film on the big screen in your own village hall, no long journey, no parking problems – just relax.

Mobile Post Office
Address: The Bells Inn car park, Almeley, Hereford
Long Description:

Because of difficulties experienced in obtaining a signal to enable use of the facility to obtain money, pay bills, etc., the Post Office has agreed to move the mobile van from The Bells car park to the centre of the village, where the post office used to operate. After a trial, no problems were encountered in obtaining a signal, and this arrangement will now be permanent. The times remain unchanged as below.

Mondays: 9.00 am – 10.30 am

Tuesdays:    11.00 am – 12.00 pm

Wednesdays: 12.30 pm – 1.30 pm

Thursdays: No service

Fridays:  9.00am – 10.00am

Saturdays:   No Service

Sundays:    No service

The vehicle is accessible by those with disabilities and by wheelchair users.

The standard range of services will be available.  Customers can collect benefits in cash using the banking service or Post Office card account.

St Mary’s Church – Almeley

Long Description:

In this Church of England church we hold a wide variety of services, some are traditional using the 1662 Book of Common Prayer, others are more modern. Some services are especially for children and young families, with a great variety of music, drama and other activities. We worship God and have fun and good fellowship together. We aim to be friendly and approachable and try to live and share the Christian life in this village.

We hold our normal service every Sunday at 11.00am on the first four Sundays in each month.  On the fifth Sunday where there is one in a month we join with the other churches in the Eardisley Group.
