Meer Common and Tomkins Green Common are not included in this disposal as they do not belong to Herefordshire Council.

Following the proposal being acceptable, we will need to advertise the transaction in accordance with the local government act as the areas are used by the public. This will be advertised with a site notice on each site and in the Hereford Times for two weeks. There will be a period of time (2-3 weeks) of which people can register representations with the Council. The council will respond to those representations before continuing with the transfer.

The proposal is a freehold transfer to the parish council for a minimal sum. It is in effect a devolved service agreement, as our policy allows freehold transfers to parish councils to manage the assets and in turn encourage the local community to support the parish councils and take ownership of the areas around their parish. There will be clauses in the contract to protect against overage or the areas being able to be transferred into private hands.

This offer is to the parish council only.

 Green spaces in Almeley Parish

The council is selling all their land in the parish on the open market in April including the green spaces of holywell dingle, Batch and Upcott Pond. The sale is by informal tender, people can bid for individual parcels within the lots and any received will be assessed.
